Inter Milan target Nacho Fernandez is on the verge of extending his contract with Real Madrid.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInter1908, who reported live on air moments ago that the 33-year-old Spanish international is one step away from signing a new deal with Los Blancos, and Inter will have to look elsewhere.

In recent days, veteran Real Madrid defender Nacho has been strongly linked with Inter.

The Nerazzurri have reportedly offered the 33-year-old a three-year contract to join ahead of next season.

Inter are preparing to reinforce their defense during the summer transfer window. Apart from the fact that Milan Skriniar is leaving, the situations of all of Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi, and Danilo D’Ambrosio are also up in the air.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri have been gearing up to look for suitable targets to potentially bolster their backline.

Veteran Real defender Nacho is one player who’s come onto the Nerazzurri’s radar.

This is perhaps not surprising given Inter CEO Beppe Marotta’s penchant for hunting down free transfer opportunities. Nacho is an experienced defender with multiple Champions League trophies under his belt, and would certainly represent a big opportunity at no cost.

As things stand, the 33-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of the current month.

Di Marzio: Inter Target Nacho Very Close To Extending Real Madrid Deal

Alas, according to Di Marzio, Inter will miss out.

The Sky transfer expert anticipates that a new deal is not far away for the Spaniard at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real coach Carlo Ancelotti has already expressed optimism that Nacho will decide to stay. The coach stated that he has spoken with the player, and that Real have made their offer.

As things stand, nothing is official. Nacho is still out of contract with Real during this summer transfer window.

However, according to Di Marzio, an extension isn’t far away.

He reports that Nacho is ready to accept Real’s offer, and will not join Inter or any other club for next season.
