Inter Milan have made clear to Premier League giants Chelsea they have no intention of selling Nicolo Barella this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who report that the Blues have asked about the former Cagliari midfielder as part of talks for striker Romelu Lukaku, but that they have gotten a firm negative response from the Nerazzurri.

With the opening of the summer transfer window, the rumour mill is starting to kick into gear.

One player who has been at the centre of some sensational links is Inter and Italy star Barella.

A few days ago, a report emerged from UK media suggesting that Newcastle United want to sign Barella. That report went so far as to claim that the Magpies were close to wrapping up a deal.

In contrast, the reality appears to be that Inter have little interest in selling Barella.

The 25-year-old is a key player for the Nerazzurri, and their response to Newcastle’s interest was a very cold one. Whilst Inter may well listen to offers even for a player like Barella, there will be no cut-price fees.

Inter Make Stance Clear To Chelsea Regarding Nicolo Barella

Chelsea are also very interested in Barella, the Corriere della Sera report.

The Blues already have their foot in the door in a certain sense. The Londoners are in active talks with the Nerazzurri regarding players like Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Londoners know that Inter want to bring Lukaku back to San Siro next season. The Belgian’s current loan deal runs out at the end of this month.

Accordingly, the Corriere della Sera report, the Blues could try and use this as leverage to get a deal done for Barella.

However, the newspaper suggests, they are unlikely to have much luck in doing so.

Barella is a player who Inter consider virtually “untranseferrable.” The 26-year-old is a vital part of the Nerazzurri’s squad.

Accordingly, Inter are not really entertaining offers for Barella, irrespective of other talks ongoing with Chelsea.
