Inter Milan have lined up Monza wingback Carlos Augusto as a replacement for Robin Gosens this summer.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 28-year-old looks increasingly likely to depart to join a team in the German top flight, and that the Nerazzurri will look to sign Augusto as his replacement.

Inter are reportedly ready to sell former Atalanta star Gosens. They are aiming to raise cash from that transfer to fund a move for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Gosens has suitors in the Bundesliga.

Union Berlin want to bring Gosens to the German capital. They have made the Inter star a major target to reinforce their squad for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg are also keen, as are Premier League side Bournemouth.

According to the Gazzetta, it is Germany where Gosens is most likely to leave for this summer. Inter want to bring in a fee of at least €20 million for the German international.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri could have to go in search of a player capable of replacing the German on the left flank.

Inter Want Monza Star Carlos Augusto As Replacements If Gosens Departs

Inter have a very specific idea of the profile they want to sign at left-wingback if Gosens heads for the exit door.

Carlos Augusto has been one of the breakout stars of this Monza team in the season just gone.

August helped Monza achieve promotion to Serie A, and then shone in his first season in the top flight.

Augusto has been a key player for Monza particularly in attack. He has made 35 appearances in Serie A for Raffaele Palladino’s side.

In the process, the Brazilian has managed six goals and five assists.

Inter are big fans of Augusto, and see him as an ideal target to replace Gosens like-for-like. The 24-year-old is a proven talent in Serie A, and the Nerazzurri will go after him should they complete a deal to sell Gosens to the Bundesliga.
