Liverpool could reignite their pursuit of Nicolo Barella after Inter Milan have rejected a lowball offer from Newcastle United.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.

Inter have firmly rebuffed the initial approach of Newcastle United for Barella.

The Magpies reportedly bid around £50 million for the former Cagliari star. This is equivalent to €58 million.

From Inter’s perspective, this is a long way off of what it would take to sign Barella. They would expect a huge money offer if they’re to even consider selling the 26-year-old.

Accordingly, unless Newcastle dramatically increase their offer, there is little chance of them signing Barella.

That does not, however, mean that another team from the Premier League couldn’t swoop in.

Liverpool Still Keen On Barella Despite Inter Rejecting Newcastle

Merseyside giants Liverpool still consider Barella an important target.

The Reds will know just what it would take to convince Inter to sell the midfielder. Chelsea have also reportedly also made a bid which the Nerazzurri turned down.

However, Juergen Klopp’s side are still very keen to make a midfield reinforcement or two in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion. However, the sense is that the Premier League side are nowhere near finished with their summer business.

The Corriere della Sera report that Inter are still wary of the possibility of an offer coming in from the Reds.

So far, the Nerazzurri have more or less dismissed the offers from the Premier League out of hand. This was particularly true of Newcastle’s lowball bid.

Nevertheless, the threat is there that Liverpool could come in with a huge money offer later in the window.

For now, Inter are only waiting and rejecting the offers that have arrived already, however.
