Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has denied that Inter Milan or any team are favourites to sign midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, the Neroverdi executive also confirmed that the Emilian club are interested in signing Inter striker Samuele Mulattieri regardless of what happens with Frattesi.

Earlier this evening, Sassuolo held a meeting with Juventus as well as with Frattesi’s agent Beppe Riso.

The Bianconeri are still hopeful that they can sign 23-year-old Italy international Frattesi. However, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Inter are still leading the race for the player’s signature.

However, nothing is done yet. Juventus and Roma are still keen on signing Frattesi, and could still make a move.

Until Inter or any other team have actually put pen to paper on a move for the 23-year-old, his future will be uncertain.

And this was the key theme that Carnevali was keen to stress. The Sassuolo CEO feels that it’s still too early to tell where Frattesi will end up.

Sassuolo CEO: Still No Clear Favourite To Sign Davide Frattesi This Summer

Asked if there’s a favourite to win the race for Frattesi, Carnevali replied “No. There’s still not team that’s ahead of the rest.”

“There’s still a long road ahead of us,” he indicated regarding the negotiations to determine where Frattesi ends up.

“Sometimes it’s hard to understand exactly what’s happening,” he admitted.

“We’re in talks with several teams, but there’s still a long way to go.”

“Over the coming days we’ll be in talks with a number of clubs and agents,” the Neroverdi CEO added. “The negotiations won’t be easy.”

Meanwhile, Carnevali also confirmed that Sassuolo are targeting Inter striker Mulattieri, whether or not the player is part of a deal for Frattesi.

“We’re always interested in young players,” he said. “Mulattieri and Volpato, regardless of Frattesi, are players of interest to us.”
