Fiorentina are ready to rival Inter Milan to sign Monza wingback Carlos Augusto during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Florence-based newspaper La Nazione, via FCInterNews, who report that the Tuscan club will join the Nerazzurri in the race to sign the 24-year-old as they look to strengthen in the left-sided fullback position.

Carlos Augusto has been one of the breakout stars of this Monza team in the season just gone.

August helped Monza achieve promotion to Serie A, and then shone in his first season in the top flight.

Augusto has been a key player for Monza particularly in attack. He has made 35 appearances in Serie A for Raffaele Palladino’s side.

In the process, the Brazilian has managed six goals and five assists.

Inter are keen to sign the Brazilian. They see him as an ideal replacement for Robin Gosens, who is a target for Union Berlin, Wolfsburg, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest.

However, Inter are not the only team in Serie A who want to sign Augusto.

Unsurprisingly, the Brazilian’s form for the Brianzoli has also attracted other transfer attention.

According to La Nazione, Fiorentina are very much keen on Augusto. La Viola are looking to reinforce in the wide areas.

On the left side, the Tuscan club could give Vincenzo Italiano a new-look option compared to captain Cristiano Biraghi. La Viola have been very impressed with what they’ve seen from Gosens.

What remains to be seen, however, is whether Fiorentina can make Monza a sufficient offer for Augusto.

The 24-year-old won’t come cheap off the back of his very eye-catching first campaign in Serie A.

The Brianzoli will reportedly want a fee of at least €30 million if they’re to sell Augusto.
