Inter Milan are ready to go back in for Atalanta defender Merih Demiral, who is set to leave his club this summer.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoAtalanta.it, who report that the 25-year-old will definitely leave this summer, and that the Nerazzurri are still among his suitors.

Turkish international and former Juventus and Sassuolo defender Demiral was linked with Inter in January.

During the January transfer window, Inter could have sold Milan Skriniar to Paris Saint-Germain. Therefore, the Nerazzurri had looked for a potential replacement for the Slovakian.

Demiral was one of the main names who Inter were looking at.

This season, the 25-year-old has fallen out with La Dea coach Gian Piero Gasperini. Therefore, he would have been ready to leave Atalanta during the January window.

Reportedly, Atalanta had slapped a €20 million price tag on Demiral in January. The Nerazzurri would have been ready to pay this, however, had they had a transfer fee from Skriniar to reinvest in his signing.

Inter Milan Still Interested In Signing Atalanta Defender Merih Demiral

Skriniar stayed at Inter in January, whilst Demiral also stayed put in Bergamo.

However, this only delayed the inevitable. Skriniar will leave Inter to join PSG on a free transfer imminently, with his contract expiring at the end of this month.

And Demiral, TuttoAtalanta report, already has his bags packed. The 25-year-old wants to leave Atalanta, as he has not reconciled with Gasperini.

Therefore, Demiral will have to find a new club for next season.

According to TuttoAtanta, Inter are still interested in signing Demiral on loan.

However, as with during the January window, Atalanta would only want to agree a deal on the basis of an initial loan containing a purchase obligation.

Whilst La Dea could open up to a loan transfer, they’d insist on a mandatory obligation to buy the out-of-favour defender permanently.
