Inter Milan will meet for Romelu Lukaku talks with Chelsea sometime this week, as they aim to seal a loan with a purchase obligation.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have accepted the fact that Chelsea are not going to open up to another dry loan deal for Lukaku. With or without a loan fee.

The Blues’ preference is certainly to offload the Belgian in a permanent deal.

However, the Nerazzurri do have a new strategy to bring back Lukaku.

The player has done his part to push Chelsea to agree a deal. The 30-year-old has rejected offers from Al-Hilal and AC Milan.

Now he wants Inter to do their bit. With Lukaku applying as much pressure as he can on the Blues, it’s Inter’s turn to find the key to unlock negotiations.

Inter Milan Set For Romelu Lukaku Talks This Week

It has become clear that Inter’s strategy is to offer a loan deal with a purchase obligation for Lukaku.

That way, Chelsea can be assured of receiving a fee and not having to deal with the player’s situation past next summer. And Inter, on the other hand, can spread the payment out and not commit too much financially this summer.

According to the Gazzetta, Inter could offer a loan fee, but lower than the €8 million they paid last summer. The Nerazzurri could put a €5 million paid loan deal on the table.

Then, for the fee on the purchase obligation, Inter don’t want to pay more than €30 million.

It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri can convince Chelsea with an offer at these figures.

In any event, the Gazzetta reports, Inter will hold talks with Chelsea soon. They will hold a video conference call with the Premier League giants.

The call will happen sometime this week, though they haven’t yet set a day.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has told the club that bringing Lukaku back is a priority. The player, as well, is all-in on being back at the Nerazzurri for next season.
