Inter Milan could join their city rivals AC Milan in the race to sign Valencia and USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri could go after the 20-year-old US international as an alternative to Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi.

Inter are starting to think about midfield targets other than Sassuolo and Italy midfielder Frattesi.

The 23-year-old Neroverdi star has been at the centre of the Nerazzurri’s thinking for some weeks. However, his club’s continued insistence on holding out for a big fee is starting to push Inter in other directions.

Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic is one. The Nerazzurri will reportedly meet with the Friulani this week to discuss the possibility of signing the 21-year-old former RB Leipzig man.

Another target on the Nerazzurri’s radar, the Gazzetta reports, is Valencia midfielder Musah.

Inter Could Still Join AC Milan In Trying To Sign Yunus Musah

Right now, the Serie A team with the strongest interest in Musah’s signature looks to be Milan.

Inter’s city rivals are working to rebuild their midfield after the massive money sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United. 20-year-old US international Musah is one of their primary targets in this respect.

However, the Rossoneri are not the only club who are admirers of the American.

Inter have been keen on Musah since the January transfer window. The Nerazzurri had scouted the American at the World Cup in Qatar, where they were impressed by his performances.

Musah would be a versatile wild card in midfield.

Given that the Nerazzurri are aiming for a player with the characteristics to back up both Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on both sides of their midfield trio, the Valencia midfielder would certainly represent an interesting option.

Accordingly, and Inter move to sign Musah ahead of their city rivals can hardly be ruled out.
