Lazio are closing in on the signing of veteran former Inter Milan defender Danilo D’Ambrosio on a free transfer.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Biancocelesti are not far away from finding an agreement with the 34-year-old and his representatives, and could put him at the disposal of Maurizio Sarri soon.

D’Ambrosio has left Inter on a free transfer.

The experienced defender confirmed his exit last week, leaving on a free transfer. D’Ambrosio’s contract with the Nerazzurri ran out at the end of last month, and he did not sign an extension.

Reports suggested that the 34-year-old was hoping for a new two-year deal. Meanwhile, Inter were only preparing to offer a one-season extension like D’Ambrosio had signed last summer.

Accordingly, D’Ambrosio has said goodbye to Inter, nearly a decade after joining from Torino. He had been a Nerazzurri player for nine and a half seasons, having arrived in January of 2014.

D’Ambrosio made a total of 295 appearances across that nearly a decade at Inter.

Now, the big question is where the 34-year-old will go next.

Lazrio Ready To Complete Signing Of Former Inter Milan Stalwart Danilo D’Ambrosio

According to Sky, the wait won’t be long to figure out the next club of D’Ambrosio.

The Italian international is reportedly in advanced talks with Lazio. The Biancocelesti have made signing a reinforcement in the fullback position a priority for the summer transfer window.

Accordingly, D’Ambrosio looks like he’ll go to a different Serie A club also in the Champions League.

The former Granata veteran will bring all his experience to Sarri’s team as they prepare for their first season back in Europe’s top club competition since the 2020-21 campaign.

As of yet, nothing is done. However, Sky reports, it’s getting close and Lazio are ready to make D’Ambrosio their newest summer signing soon.
