Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi expects that while Roberto Pereyra isn’t a priority target for Inter Milan, they could still move for him.

Speaking live on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, Barzaghi updated on the status of a prospective Nerazzurri move for the 32-year-old former Juventus and Watford midfielder.

Inter’s aim is to go into next season with six senior midfielders in the squad.

With three competitions to fight for throughout the campaign, the Nerazzurri could have to play upwards of fifty matches. Obviously, this could put quite a bit of stress on the squad.

Accordingly, having depth in each of the three roles in the midfield trio is a priority for Inter.

With the departures of Marcelo Brozovic and Roberto Gagliardini, and the arrival of Davide Frattesi, Inter can confirm five slots are filled.

Accordingly, Inter will likely sign another midfielder even after completing a deal for Frattesi.

The key aspect could be the fact that Inter are replacing a player who left for free, in the form of Gagliardini.

Accordingly, a free transfer opportunity like that of Pereyra could become ideal for Inter.

Barzaghi: Roberto Pereyra Not A Priority Target For Inter Milan But A Potential Opportunity

“As far as Pereyera goes, he’s not Inter’s preferred target,” Barzaghi explained. “But he’s an opportunity if they want to sign someone without making a major investment.”

The journalist continued that “He’s there as an option, but not right away.”

“It will also depend on what happens with Lukaku and Onana,” he added.

Barzaghi also confirmed that Inter met with the agent of midfielder Giovanni Fabbian and Spezia wingback Emil Holm.

“The agent of Fabbian was also recently by the headquarters,” the journalist said.

“And also that of Holm, the Spezia wingback,” Barzaghi added. “He’s the latest name on their list for the right flank.”
