Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi feels Davide Frattesi will be a great signing for Inter Milan but that the Nerazzurri must still evolve.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the former coach reacted to the Nerazzurri’s signing of the 23-year-old.

Now it’s official – Davide Frattesi is an Inter player.

The Nerazzurri have confirmed the arrival of the 23-year-old Italy international from Sassuolo.

Frattesi has done much to earn a big reputation for himself in the past couple years, both in a Neroverdi and an Azzurri shirt.

However, moving to Inter will constitute a big step up for Frattesi.

For his part, former Rossoneri coach Sacchi doesn’t expect Frattesi to struggle too much. On the contrary, he feels that it is Inter who must approach next season with improvement in mind.

Sacchi has frequently given lukewarm appraisals of the Nerazzurri’s style of play, and this has continued.

Sacchi: Davide Frattesi A Great Signing, But Inter Milan Must Improve

Sacchi said of the Nerazzurri that “They made an excellent signing by getting Frattesi. A player with a great future who I’m very familiar with.”

He then argued that “”The Nerazzurri need to evolve in terms of their style of play.”

“Above all, I hope to see this happen on the European stage.”

Sacchi has frequently argued that Inter’s style of play is not quite up to the standard of Europe’s elite.

His argument has tended to be that the Nerazzurri can successfully execute an “Italian” brand of football, but aren’t at the same level as the absolute top teams in Europe.

At the same time, Sacchi has given Inter their due when the occasion has arisen. He admitted that the Nerazzurri made his old side Milan look like “sparring partners” in the most recent league derby.
