Inter Milan have made new inquires about the possibility of signing Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInter1908, who reports that the Nerazzurri are considering a move for the 21-year-old now that they look set to miss out on Roberto Pereyra.

In recent weeks, Inter have started to show an interest in signing Udinese midfielder Samardzic.

The Nerazzurri have already landed Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, but this may not mean that they’re out of the race for the former RB Leipzig man.

Reports had suggested that Samardzic was largely a player who Inter see as a backup target if they were unable to complete a deal for Frattesi. And now, Inter have wrapped up a deal to sign the Italian.

However, Frattesi’s arrival may not necessarily mean that Inter’s interest in signing Samardzic is dead in the water.

Rather, the Nerazzurri could very well move for them both.

And in fact, Di Marzio reports, Inter are still in the hunt for Samardzic.

Whilst Inter have brought in Frattesi to take the place of Marcelo Brozovic in the squad, they still must replace Roberto Gagliardini.

The Nerazzurri do not want to head into the upcoming season with just five senior midfielders.

Inter have been looking to sign Roberto Pereyra on a free transfer. The Argentine is out of contract after his deal with Udinese ran out.

However, the Nerazzurri look close to missing out. Di Marzio report that Pereyra is close to accepting an offer from Besiktas.

Therefore, Inter will have to look elsewhere.

And, Di Marzio reports, the Nerazzurri are thinking of a move for a former teammate of the 32-year-old’s from last season. They are considering a move to sign Samardzic.
