Inter Milan have made Atletico Madrid a take-it-or-leave-it offer of €15 million to sign striker Alvaro Morata.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri have no intention of paying the 30-year-old’s release clause, and have indicated the highest they’ll go in their bid during a meeting with his agent earlier this evening.
Earlier this evening, Inter meeting held a meeting with Morata’s agent.
The purpose of the meeting was to sound out the player’s interest in a move, but also the conditions for a deal with Atletico.
Morata reportedly has a release clause in his contract with the Colchoneros. This is for €21 million.
And, despite reports that this could drop to €12 million with a new contract, Atletico reportedly want to hold out for that fee.
Inter, by contrast, do not want to pay €21 million to sign Morata. They are keen to make a deal, but they have a clear upper limit for how much they’ll pay.
Inter Milan Offer Atletico Madrid €15M For Alvaro Morata – Take It Or Leave It
According to SportItalia, Inter have indicated that they’ll pay a straight cash fee of €15 million for Morata.
The Nerazzurri are still wary of the competition of Roma as well as potentially Juventus for the Spaniard.
And in today’s meeting, Inter made their urgency clear – they are ready to make the deal at that fee very soon.
Morata would be the Nerazzurri’s Plan B following their abruptly pulling the plug on signing Romelu Lukaku.
But now, SportItalia, it will come down to Atletico’s stance on selling Morata for a fee below his release clause.
If the La Liga giants insist on the release clause or nothing, Inter will move on to other targets.
On the other hand, if Atletico open up to Inter’s €15 million bid, it may not be long. The former Juventus, Real Madrid, and Chelsea striker could become an Inter player soon.
