Roma are not yet certain about making a move to sign Inter Milan target Alvaro Morata given the Spaniard’s high price tag.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the Giallorossi owners are still hemming and hawing after a meeting with Morata’s agents, with the size of the fee being their principal consideration.

Inter have decided to go after Atletico Madrid striker Morata this summer. The Nerazzurri have reportedly already made a bid to sign the Spanish international.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is reportedly an admirer, and has made the Spaniard the first choice in attack. This comes after Inter abruptly pulled the plug on talks to sign Romelu Lukaku.

However, Inter are not the only team keen to sign the former Real Madrid and Chelsea man.

Roma are also in the race. Reportedly, Jose Mourinho has identified Morata as his main target at striker ahead of next season.

Roma Meet With Alvaro Morata’s Representatives – Uncertain About Price Tag

According to Di Marzio, Roma Sporting Director has concluded his meeting with Morata’s representatives this evening.

The player’s agents made clear that Atletico don’t plan to sell Morata for cheap.

This in spite of reports suggesting that the 30-year-old could sign a new contract that would see his release clause drop to €12 million.

From the perspective of Roma’s owners, there is no question that Morata would fall outside their usual profile of signing.

The ex-Juventus striker would be a short-term investment, and his transfer fee would be higher than they would usually spend on a player in his age bracket.

This does not mean that the Giallorossi are out of the race for Morata’s signature by any means.

However, the finances would make a deal difficult.

Therefore Roma continue to consider what their next move would be. And in the meantime, Inter are also making a move of their own.
