Roberto Pereyra has rejected a move to join Besiktas, but it is Torino rather than Inter Milan who now look likely to sign him.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via L’Interista, who report that the Nerazzurri’s interest in signing the former Juventus and Watford midfielder has cooled due to their focus on signing a younger midfielder.

Argentine international midfielder Pereyra’s contract has run out with Udinese. His deal expired at the end of last month.

With the Argentine international not signing an extension with the Friulani, he can join another club on a free transfer this summer.

Inter have reportedly thought about a move for Pereyra. The Nerazzurri still have to replace Roberto Gagliardini, who left on a free transfer.

Signing a player who is also available without a transfer fee like Pereyra would certainly be a natural solution.

Fiorentina are also reportedly keen.

Roberto Pereyra Turns Down Besiktas – Torino Now Lead The Chase

Another club to have taken a strong interest in signing Pereyra are Turkish Super Lig team Besiktas.

The Istanbul giants pushed to bring the 32-year-old in on a free transfer. They had even looked to be close to wrapping up a deal.

However, the Corriere reports, Pereyra has decided that he prefers to remain in Serie A. He has rejected Besiktas’s offer.

However, it is not Inter who look likely to be Pereyra’s next destination.

According to the Corriere, Inter are likely to turn down the chance to sign the former Bianconeri man. They want to sign a young player with room to grow rather than a veteran.

Rather, it now appears to be Torino who are in the strongest position to sign Pereyra.

The Granata have been pursuing a deal to sign the Argentine on a free transfer for some time now. And the player’s preference to remain in Italy could give them the decisive advantage.
