Inter Milan target Alvaro Morata has an informal agreement on a fee for which he can leave Atletico Madrid.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that the 30-year-old has a sort of “gentlemen’s agreement” that the Colchoneros will sell him if an offer of around €13 million arrives.
Inter are still hoping that they can sign Morata this summer.
Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi in particular is hoping to bring the experienced Spanish international to the club.
But the big sticking point that’s always looked likely to define negotiations has been the fee.
Many reports have suggested that Atletico will hold out for €20.5 million for the former Chelsea, Juventus, and Real Madrid star.
Initially, this appeared to be a release clause in Morata’s contract. Then, reports emerged that this is actually the fee at which Atletico want to sell the Spaniard to avoid taking a capital loss.
But according to Mediaset, the player has long secured an informal agreement that Atletico would sell him for less if he wants to leave.
Alvaro Morata Has Informal Agreement He Can Leave Atletico Madrid For €13M
Mediaset reports that Morata and Atletico have informally agreed that if he wants to join a different club, the La Liga giants will accept a bid of around €13 million.
Alternatively, the Colchoneros would accept a bid of €15 million if it is in two instalments. The €13 million fee would only be applicable if the offer is for a payment in a single instalment.
Morata also has an offer on the table from Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab.
This would see the 30-year-old earn a whopping €25 million per season.
But the player wants to return to Serie A.
Not only Inter, but also Roma and Juventus are interested in Morata’s signature.
Meanwhile, Mediaset reports, as an alternative to Morata Inter are readying to bid worth €35 million plus add-ons for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun.
