Atalanta captain Rafael Toloi has emerged as Inter Milan’s top target to replace Milan Skriniar.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are also considering Toloi’s Atalanta teammates Merih Demiral and Jose Luis Palomino as other possibilities to complete their defense this summer.

Inter have already made several signings during the window, including young defender Yann Bisseck – but one player conspicuously absent has been a replacement for Milan Skriniar.

The Slovakian’s departure has left a gaping hole in the Nerazzurri’s defensive options. The fact that Danilo D’Ambrosio has followed him out the exit door hasn’t helped.

Inter had looked close to signing Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea to replace Skriniar.

However, that deal fell through at the eleventh hour as the Spaniard chose to instead join Atletico Madrid.

So in the past few weeks, Inter have been looking at other options to replace Skriniar.

Toloi Tops Inter’s List As Atalanta Trio On The Radar

According to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri are considering signing one of Atalanta’s defenders to complete their complement of defensive options for next season.

In many ways, La Dea would be a logical pool from which Inter could find the right defender.

Under Gian Piero Gasperini, the Lombard team play a back three system – therefore, any player from Atalanta would have a relatively low risk of failing to adapt to Simone Inzaghi’s tactics.

And according to Tuttosport, Inter have a particular Atalanta defender in mind.

The newspaper report that Italy international Toloi is at the top of the Nerazzurri’s list.

The 32-year-old would bring experience and a a knowledge of playing on the right side of a back three. In this sense, he would be a similar profile to Azpilicueta.

However, Tuttosport report, the Nerazzurri are also looking at two other Atalanta defenders.

Namely, Demiral and Palomino.
