Inter Milan will not move for Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, as they shift their focus to Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun and Udinese’s Beto in attack.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri directors have insisted on a move for a younger striker profile with room to grow this summer.

Inter’s search for a striker for next season is still ongoing.

But with just a little over a month to go before the transfer window closes, the Nerazzurri must get a move on.

And according to the Gazzetta, yesterday the club held a meeting to discuss their transfer strategy.

All of coach Simone Inzaghi, President Steven Zhang, and Sporting Director Piero Ausilio were present in Japan. Meanwhile, CEO Beppe Marotta participated via a video call.

One of the main topics of discussion was the ongoing striker hunt.

And according to the Gazzetta, the Inter directors came to a firm conclusion.

Inter Milan Directors Decide – No Morata, Focus On Balogun & Beto Instead

According to the Gazzetta, the Nerazzurri directors have more or less made up their mind. The club will not move for Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Inzaghi, the newspaper reports, still prefers the Spaniard.

The coach wants a player with experience and reliability as part of an attacking rebuild to chase the Serie A title.

However, Atletico have clearly indicated that they won’t waver on the €20.5 million price tag for Morata. Inter have no interest in paying this much for a player who turns 31 next season.

Inter’s directors and Zhang believe that the focus must be on a younger striker with room to grow.

In this sense, the Gazzetta report, the club’s search has more or less reduced its focus to Arsenal’s Balogun and Udinese’s Beto.

The newspaper note that the Udinese player is the more stylistically apt candidate. Inzaghi wants a traditional Number Nine with physical presence and strong holdup play.

However, the temptation to go after Balogun is very much there.

The club directors are big fans of the 22-year-old US international, who they believe has massive potential over the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, it can hardly be ruled out that a different name could come up in Inter’s search. But what now looks certain is that Inter won’t sign Morata.
