There has been no contact between Inter Milan and Alexis Sanchez, but a surprise return can happen for the Chilean on one condition.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that if Joaquin Correa were to leave the Nerazzurri, then a move could very well happen for the Chilean just twelve months after he initially left.

Sanchez has emerged as a surprise candidate in Inter’s search for attacking reinforcements this summer.

The Chilean had only left Inter last summer, ending a three-year stint at the San Siro.

He had certainly had an impact during his time at the Nerazzurri. He left a Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana winner.

On the other hand, there were some rumblings of discontent. Particularly in his final season, the former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Manchester United forward hit out due to a relative lack of playing time.

However, the Nerazzurri ultimately decided to offload Sanchez due to his high wages, among other factors.

Sanchez made way for the return of Romelu Lukaku.

In the end, Inter agreed a termination of Sanchez’s contract by mutual consent. The ex-Gunners forward went on his way and joined Marseille.

No Contact Between Inter Milan & Alexis Sanchez – Joaquin Correa Departure Could Change Things

Sanchez has now left Marseille after one season.

The 34-year-old’s contract with the French side has expired, and it has not been extended.

This has set the rumour mill spinning.

Inter have been among the clubs to have emerged as a possible next destination for Sanchez. It would certainly be a familiar environment for the player.

However, Mediaset reports, at the moment these are just rumours.

Neither Inter nor Sanchez’s representatives have reached out to see if a return is possible yet.

But the departure of Joaquin Correa from Inter could very well change things.

If the Argentine, who is a target for teams in the Saudi Pro League, departs, then the Nerazzurri will look to replace him with a similar profile.

And they will not want to spend big doing so.

Therefore, the opportunity to bring Sanchez back on a free transfer could well tempt Inter.
