Atalanta captain Rafael Toloi is at the top of Inter Milan’s list of defensive targets in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, who report that the 32-year-old could be the Nerazzurri’s final defensive signing of the summer, and that they could make their move within the next few days.

The past few days have been very busy ones for Inter.

The Nerazzurri have gotten close to the signing of Lazar Samardzic, who should soon arrive from Udinese.

West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca may not be far behind.

But, Sky reports, Inter are not stopping there.

The Nerazzurri are still aiming to sign one more defender before the summer transfer window is through.

No replacement has yet arrived for Milan Skriniar, whilst Danilo D’Ambrosio has also departed, leaving a big vacancy on the right side of the back three.

And, according to the Gazzetta, there is a clear candidate at the top of their shortlist – La Dea captain Toloi.

Inter Milan Want To Bring In Rafael Toloi For Next Season

The Nerazzurri have already been linked with a couple of Atalanta defenders.

There’s Giorgio Scalvini, who would be something of a dream signing.

Then, Merih Demiral has reportedly been a target for the Nerazzurri ever since the January transfer window, when it had initially looked like Skriniar could depart for a fee.

But now, Sky report, it is Toloi who they’ve set their sights on.

The Italian international would be a fairly obviously stylistically apt profile for the role.

Toloi is very much used to playing the role of the right-sided defender in a back three. He has been a stalwart for La Dea under Gian Piero Gasperini playing in the position.

Atalanta are not keen to sell Toloi, as he is an important player.

But Inter will try and get a deal done.
