Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah are both on Inter Milan’s shortlist in defense.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are still keeping their options fairly open and that the London-based duo are options they’re considering.

Inter have already done plenty of business this summer.

One thing that the Nerazzurri have not done, however, is secure a replacement for Skriniar.

Yann Bisseck has come in as a kind of defensive depth option. However, the German is not yet ready to be a regular starting-quality option, aged 22 and never having played regular football in a top five European league.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta seemed to be on the way.

But then the Spaniard decided to snub the Nerazzurri and join Atletico Madrid instead.

Therefore, Inter have been a bit back to square one. They have lined up plenty of potential candidates to be their final defensive signings for the summer.

But none have actually arrived yet.

Inter Milan Look At Tomiyasu & Chalobah As Demiral Deal Could Prove Difficult

The Gazzetta note that Inter have been considering Atalanta defender Merih Demiral for some time.

However, the newspaper also consider that the relations between the Nerazzurri and La Dea may not be at their best after the latter hijacked the former’s deal to sign Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham United.

Therefore, it is not currently easy to see Inter persuading the Lombard rivals to loan out Demiral.

On the other hand, Inter are increasingly turning their focus to Arsenal defender Tomiyasu.

The 24-year-old Japanese international has plenty of Serie A experience from his time at Bologna. Moreover, Tomiyasu is just the kind of versatile defender who would slot in well to the position on the right of Inter’s back three.

At the moment, the Gunners are not opening up to the idea of loaning out Tomiyasu.

However, Inter are going after the ex-Rossoblu defender and exploring ways to make a move happen.

Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Chalobah has also been on the Nerazzurri’s radar for at least a year now.

The Englishman reportedly wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The arrival of Axel Disasi from Monaco means that there are big question marks over whether he will receive much playing time.

Therefore, Inter could leverage Chalobah’s desire to leave to make a deal happen.
