A report in Italian media has claimed that Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is Inter Milan’s top target in the striker position.

Italian news service ANSA, via FCInter1908, name the Spaniard as the player who the Nerazzurri are most keen to sign in attack.

One thing that looks clear is that Inter will sign a striker before the summer transfer window closes.

Less obvious is the identity of that striker.

It had seemed as though Inter would complete a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku, which fell through dramatically.

Then, a number of names have come up.

For the better part of the last week, the Nerazzurri have negotiated with West Ham United for Gianluca Scamacca. However, the Italy international will instead head to Atalanta.

This has meant that Inter have had to go back to the drawing board.

Widespread reports have identified Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun as the player the Nerazzurri are going all-out to sign.

But according to ANSA, it is actually former Juventus, Real Madrid, and Chelsea striker Morata who is Inter’s top target.

Report Claims Alvaro Morata Is Inter Milan’s Top Target In Attack

ANSA report that as far as Serie A clubs, Roma are all but out of the race to sign Morata.

But Inter, on the other hand, are very keen, they anticipate.

Most other reports have suggested that the Nerazzurri are wary to make a big investment in a player of Morata’s age.

The Spanish international will turn 31 shortly. Atletico reportedly want a fee in excess of €20 million, whilst the striker will earn €5-6 million net per season.

But on the other hand, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has made clear the profile of striker he wants.

The coach wants an out-and-out centre-forward.

Balogun may be a proficient goalscorer, but isn’t quite the same kind of physical target man as a player like Morata.

Scamacca was, but that ship has sailed for Inter. Therefore, according to ANSA, it is Morata who they will go after.
