Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and Arsenal man Takehiro Tomiyasu are at the top of Inter Milan’s list of Milan Skriniar replacements.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzuri are prioritizing the London-based Premier League duo in their search for one more defensive signing before the summer transfer window closes.

Inter have already done plenty of business this summer.

One thing that the Nerazzurri have not done, however, is secure a replacement for Skriniar.

Yann Bisseck has come in as a kind of defensive depth option. However, the German is not yet ready to be a regular starting-quality option, aged 22 and never having played regular football in a top five European league.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta seemed to be on the way.

But then the Spaniard decided to snub the Nerazzurri and join Atletico Madrid instead.

Therefore, Inter have been a bit back to square one. They have lined up plenty of potential candidates to be their final defensive signings for the summer.

But none have actually arrived yet.

Chalobah & Tomiyasu Inter Milan’s Main Objectives In Defense

According to the Gazzetta, Inter are looking at the English capital for possible replacements for Skriniar.

One player who has been something of a long-term target for the Nerazzurri has been Chelsea defender Chalobah.

The 23-year-old was on Inter’s radar as a possible Skriniar replacement both last summer and then in January.

And according to the Gazzetta, the Nerazzurri remain keen. He would be one of their ideal signings in the final weeks of the transfer window.

However, the Gazzetta report, Chelsea want at least €30 million for Chalobah.

The Blues are willing to let the Englishmn leave after bringing in Axel Disasi from Monaco. But they will not do so for cheap.

And in the case of former Bologna defender Tomiyasu, Inter are trying to convince Arsenal on a deal. But the big problem the Nerazzurri face is trying to get the Gunners top open up to a loan deal – something they have not done to date.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta also confirms that Atalanta’s Merih Demiral is still on Inter’s radar.

But the Turkish former Juventus and Sassuolo defender is not the Nerazzurri’s priority. He is more of a player who they could move for closer to the end of the window in the event that they miss out on other targets like Chalobah and Tomiyasu.
