Inter Milan are pushing to sign Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic, with Porto’s Mehdi Taremi and Bayern Munich’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting their main alternatives.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter’s search for a striker is now coming to a head.

The Nerazurri have less than three weeks to go before the end of the transfer window, and less than a week before their Serie A season begins.

And according to the Gazzetta, the club have a clear idea of the kind of player they want to sign. Inter want a reliable centre-forward who is tall and physically strong.

34-year-old former Stoke City and West Ham United man Arnautovic would certainly be that.

The Austrian has shown that he can be a reference point in attack in his two seasons with Bologna.

Therefore, Inter are ready to push in negotiations to sign Arnautovic.

Inter Milan Pushing For Arnautovic Despite Bologna Rejecting First Offer

According to the Gazzetta, Bologna rejected Inter’s first offer of €8 million plus midfielder Stefano Sensi for Arnautovic.

The cash valuation is not high enough for the Rossoblu. Moreover, Sensi is not a player they have an interest in.

The Gazzetta report that Bologna would be interested in taking Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani on loan as part of a deal for Arnautovic.

However, the Albanian is a player Inter have every intention of keeping in their squad for the upcoming season.

Therefore, everything could come down to Inter raising their cash offer.

The Nerazurri do intend to come back in with a higher bid. However, they are not going to meet Bologna’s currently steep asking price.

But Inter hope that the desire of the player concerned to join will prove decisive.

Arnautovic has conveyed to Bologna that he wants to make the switch. This despite the fact that the Rossoblu have even toyed with the idea of extending the Austrian’s contract, which currently runs out at the end of June 2025, in order to secure his future.

And according to the Gazzetta, Bologna coach Thiago Motta would be happy to keep Arnautovic in Emilia-Romagna.

However, the player wants Inter. And the Nerazzurri are ready to accelerate talks to get a deal over the line.

Meanwhile, Mehdi Taremi is also on Inter’s radar. However, Porto’s asking price is a major obstacle.

And then the Gazzetta report that the Nerazurri are still monitoring Cameroonian international Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The 34-year-old could be close to the exit door at Bayern Munich after the arrival of Harry Kane.
