The transfer of midfielder Lazar Samardzic to Inter Milan hangs in the balance as interest from West Ham United looms in the background.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

The once seemingly inevitable transfer of Samardzic to Inter has become a real soap opera in the past few days.

Central to the flux of the situation has been the unexpected demands that the Serb’s entourage added in negotiations at the eleventh hour.

Inter have made their stance abundantly clear to Samardzic and his representatives.

They will sign him at exactly the terms they agreed via the mediation of agent Rafaela Pimenta, and not accept any changes in the conditions.

West Ham Interest In Samardzic Looms In Background Amid Inter Transfer Drama

Now, according to the Corriere, there is no certainty whatsoever as to what Samardzic will do.

The 21-year-old has decided to remain in Milano.

He still wants the transfer to go through. Heis doing what he can to indicate as such to the Nerazzurri.

Things could come down to whether or not Samardzic can convince everyone in his entourage to accept the deal that Inter had already agreed via Pimenta.

There are rumours about exactly which conditions the Serb’s entourage, including his father, have asked for.

Reports suggest that new agent commissions and possibly a sign-on bonus are what Samardzic’s representatives are seeking.

But Inter will not acquiesce or give even an inch. They’re waiting to see if Samardzic will accept the previously-agreed deal.

And in the meantime, there is also Premier League side West Ham United in the background.

The Hammers are considering a surprise move to swoop in and sign Samardzic, who has already had his medical with Inter.

The East Londoners are facing the prospect of losing former AC Milan midfielder Lucasa Paqueta. The Brazilian is a target for Manchester City.

And Samardzic is a name on their radar to replace Paqueta.
