Inter Milan are still thinking about a move to sign former Juventus and Watford midfielder Roberto Pereyra on a free transfer.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are considering the 32-year-old as a serious option in midfield along with keeping Stefano Sensi in the squad.

Inter will have thought that they wrapped up their business in midfield weeks ago.

However, the collapse of a move for Lazar Samardzic has meant that the Nerazzurri are virtually back to square one. Today, the Nerazzurri finally pulled the plug on talks to sign the 21-year-old for good.

This leaves Inter with just two weeks to consider another solution.

As FCIN report, Inter will certainly want to make six senior midfielders available to coach Simone Inzaghi.

Given that the Nerazzurri coach plays with a midfield trio, the team will need adequate depth to cope with a long and gruelling season playing in multiple competitions.

And, FCIN report, the Nerazzurri have a couple ideas about who the sixth could be.

According to FCIN, Inter still haven’t abandoned the idea of signing Argentine international Pereyra.

The 32-year-old is currently available on a free transfer. His contract with Udinese ran out this summer, and he has yet to sign for any club.

Pereyra would certainly bring plenty of Serie A experience, between the Friulani and Juventus.

Moreover, Pereyra’s versatility could allow him to cover a couple different positions in midfield.

Therefore, FCIN report, the Nerazzurri have not discounted the Argentine as an option.

However, the outlet anticipates, Sensi could also end up staying.

It has long looked like the former Sassuolo midfielder would leave Inter for good this summer. However, the club are now seriously considering turning to him now that Samardzic won’t be joining.
