Roberto Pereyra is ready to decide to join Sampdoria on a free transfer despite interest from Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Udine-based newspaper Messaggerio Veneto, via FCInterNews, who report that the 32-year-old Argentine international should confirm his decision within the next few days.

At the moment, Pereyra is a player without a club.

The former Juventus and Watford man’s contract with Udinese ran out at the end of June.

Pereyra has yet to sign a deal with any other club. He can currently negotiate with any team that he wants to join on a free transfer.

Inter have been among the teams to show an interest in signing Pereyra.

The 32-year-old seems in many respects like a natural target for the Nerazzurri.

Pereyra is an experienced and versatile midfielder. He would likely be happy to accept a role as more of a backup option rather than a regular starter.

Moreover, the Argentine’s availability on a free transfer would certainly be a boost for Inter.

The Nerazzurri are working within tight financial restrictions this summer. And Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is very well-known for his extensive use of free transfer opportunities in building a squad.

Roberto Pereyra Close To Choosing Sampdoria – Inter Milan To Miss Out

However, Messaggerio Veneto report, Pereyra has decided on his future, and he will not be joining Inter.

Rather, Serie B side Sampdoria look to have convinced the 32-year-old.

Last season, the Blucerchiati endured a miserable campaign that saw them drop down to the second division.

However, the Ligurians are keen to go straight back up to Serie A under Andrea Pirlo.

Therefore, adding quality and experience is on the agenda for Pirlo and the club directors.

They have identified Pereyra as an ideal profile to add these qualities. And according to Messaggerio Veneto, the Argentine is ready to say yes to them soon.
