Inter Milan have an agreement to sign defender Benjamin Pavard on a free transfer next summer if he doesn’t arrive from Bayern Munich this summer.
This according to Italian news outlet La Repubblica, via FCInterNews.
Inter have made Pavard their top target in defense.
Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta made no effort to hide the fact. And coach Simone Inzaghi has also admitted that he wants the Frenchman in his squad by the end of the summer transfer window.
The negotiations between Inter and Bayern for Pavard are now ongoing.
Reports suggest that, after the Bavarians rejected their initial bids, the Nerazzurri will raise their offer again.
But that doesn’t mean any guarantee that Bayern will accept Inter’s new offer.
Ultimately, the German champions’ stance isn’t just about money. Reports suggest that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is very reluctant to sanction a sale of the 27-year-old, because he does not want to lose important depth on the right side of defense.
Therefore, it is not certain that Inter will be able to convince Bayern.
Inter Could Sign Benjamin Pavard For Free Next Summer
The Nerazzurri are aware of the possibility of missing out on Pavard this summer.
However, this does not mean that the Frenchman would then fall off their radar.
Far from it, the Nerazzurri are very mindful of the possible opportunity to sign Pavard on a free transfer in twelve months’ time when his contract with Bayern runs out.
Pavard has been clear that he wants to leave the Allianz Arena. Therefore, he is not going to extend his contract with Bayern which currently runs out at the end of June 2024.
Inter have discussed the possibility of a free transfer with the player and his representatives.
And according to La Repubblica, Pavard has already given his agreement to Inter – if he doesn’t join this summer, he will next.
