Inter Milan are the verge of beating Man United to the signing of defender Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.

This according to Sky Sports UK reported Kaveh Solhekol, who reported in a tweet that the Nerazzurri are closing in on a deal for the 27-year-old French international for a fee of around €30 million plus add-ons.

Inter have made Pavard their top target in defense.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta made no effort to hide the fact. And coach Simone Inzaghi has also admitted that he wants the Frenchman in his squad by the end of the summer transfer window.

And now, Solhekol reports, the Nerazzurri are very close to getting it done.

He notes that Inter have faced the competition of Premier League giants Manchester United for Pavard’s signature. The Red Devils are aiming to make a defensive reinforcement before the summer transfer window closes.

However, Solhekol notes, United have failed to offload one of the defenders already in their squad in time.

Therefore, the Red Devils cannot move for Pavard. Inter, on the other hand, can.

Inter Beat Man United To Bayern Defender Pavard

The Nerazzurri have been in talks with Bayern for the past several days about Pavard.

Inter have made progressively higher offers for the 27-year-old. And according to Solhekol, the Bavarians are ready to accept a bid of around €30 million plus add-ons.

A key sticking point had been Bayern’s reluctance to sell Pavard without first signing a replacement.

But Solhekol reports that the German champions’ search for a replacement is now well underway.

Reports have suggested that Pavard himself has pushed for the move to Inter.

A key part of his reason for joining the Nerazzurri is a tactical preference. Pavard wants to play in a strictly defensive role rather than as an attacking fullback.

And Inter’s back thre system will afford the ex-Stuttgart defender the opportunity to do just that.
