Inter Milan attacker Joaquin Correa is edging ever closer to sealing a transfer to Olympique Marseille.

The 29-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in 2021, accompanying his former Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi on the trip from Rome to Milano.

But while the manager established himself at the club – winning four trophies and reaching the Champions League final last season – Correa has become an afterthought.

Nevertheless, the Argentine has found himself a suitor in Southern France.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Correa’s agent Alessandro Lucci is currently working on the final details to finalize his client’s transfer to Marseille.

The former Lazio star will join OM on an onerous loan. The French side will have the obligation to buy the player at the end of the season if they qualify to the Champions League.

This sounds like a plausible objective, since Marseille finished second and third in the Ligue 1 table over the last couple of seasons.

The total cost of the operation should earn Inter 15 million euros. This includes loan fees and the permanent transfer sum.

Inter Milan Striker Joaquin Correa Will Join Marseille On An Onerous Loan Move; The Contract Includes An Option And An Obligation To Buy

But even if the obligatory purchase clause isn’t activated, the French side would still have the option to buy Correa for 13 million euros, in addition to 2M as loan fees.

Therefore, it appears that the Argentine’s story at Inter has reached its expiry date. His exit would open the door for the return of Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer.

Ironically, the Chilean spent the last campaign at Marseille. So this is almost an indirect swap between the two strikers who are on the verge of trading clubs.
