All signs still point to Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard making the move to Inter Milan before the transfer window closes.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter’s pursuit of France international and former Stuttgart defender Pavard has been the dominant story of the final week of their summer transfer window.

The same is true for Bayern. The Bavarians have already agreed a deal with Inter to sell the 27-year-old, but only want to sell him if they sign an adequate replacement.

The Corriere name three possible replacements on Bayern’s radar.

The German champions are looking at Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap, Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida, and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.

The Bavarians have yet to make a definitive move to sign any of the trio. However, it appears to be only a matter of time.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has indicated that he will not allow a sale of Pavard until the Germans replace him.

However, the player concerned is doing everything he can to force the move.

All Signs Still Point To Benjamin Pavard Joining Inter Milan From Bayern

For Inter, the problem is simple – the clock is ticking.

There are only a few days left to go in the summer transfer window.

And for this reason, the Corriere report, the Nerazzurri are not without other options. They also have Torino defender Perr Schuurs at the ready as a possible emergency backup target if Bayern simply refuse to sell Pavard.

But according to the Corriere, that doesn’t look remotely likely.

The Bavarians want to give Pavard the move he’s after. They hardly want to keep hold of a player who’s unhappy, having skipped several training sessions now.

Moreover, Bayern can still cash in for a significant fee if they sell Pavard to Inter this summer.

Otherwise, the Frenchman can leave for free next summer when his contract runs out.

According to the Corriere, Inter are still confident that Pavard will be in their ranks in time for their Serie A clash with Fiorentina next weekend.
