It’s official. Inter Milan have completed the signing of Davy Klaassen from Ajax. The Dutchman arrives on a free transfer from Ajax.

The official Inter website announced the permanent transfer in a statement posted on Friday.

This should round off what has been an extremely busy transfer session for club directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio.

The Nerazzurri revamped their departments by replacing a host of departees with a flock of newcomers.

The last remaining piece of the jigsaw was a strong midfielder with an imposing physical presence. The Beneamata have now found their man in the shape of Klaassen.

This transfer came out of the blue last night. News reports were linking Inter with other candidates over the past few days.

Yet, it was Klaassen who landed in Milano on Friday morning. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that the player’s agent managed to convince Ajax to release the midfielder who had a contract with the club until 2024.

This allowed the 30-year-old to sign for the Italian giants as a free agent.

The Netherlands international is an Ajax youth product who embarked on foreign ventures at Everton and Werder Bremen between 2017 and 2020 before returning to Amsterdam.

He will now put all of his experience at Inter’s disposal and will be hoping to play an important role in Simone Inzaghi’s plans for next season.
