Hakan Calhanoglu is the top earner at Inter Milan in the 2023-24 season.

This according to Italian news outlet Calcio e Finanza, who report that the Turk is top of the pile after his summer contract extension, ahead of strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

This summer was one of upheaval at Inter.

Big names left, whilst some high-profile signings came in to replace them.

A number of Inter’s highest earners from last season headed for the exit door. This is hardly surprising considering the mandate to reduce the wage bill at the club.

Marcelo Brozovic, Edin Dzeko, Romelu Lukaku, and Milan Skriniar were among the players to leave.

This saw Inter reduce the wage bill by €11.2 million gross per season compared to last campaign.

This time around the Nerazzurri are spending €117.8 million gross per season. The squad will earn €70.9 million net per season.

But at the same time, it is not as though there are not still some top earners in Inter’s squad.

Hakan Calhanoglu Tops Inter Milan Top Earners List For 2023-24 Season

Midfielder Calhanoglu earns €6.5 million net per season.

That comes after the 29-year-old former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen man signed a contract extension during the summer.

Calhanoglu’s deal runs until the end of June 2027.

Meanwhile, Calcio e Finanza report, the two players behind Calhanoglu are both strikers – Martinez and Thuram.

As Inter captain, it is not terribly surprising that Martinez is close to leading the way. Moreover, Inter are reportedly ready to hand the Argentine a new contract this fall, and with it an increase in his earnings.

And in the case of Thuram, the Frenchman only just arrived this summer.

But the fact that Thuram signed on a free transfer naturally means that his wages are higher.

Both Martinez and Thuram reportedly earn around €6 million net per season.

Meanwhile, another summer arrival – Benjamin Pavard – is fifth in Inter’s earnings chart.
