Inter Milan have begun contract talks with their captain Lautaro Martinez, putting a new five-year deal on the table.

This according to Milan-based newspaper Il Giornale, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri have offered a five-year deal until the end of June 2028 with wages of €7.5 million net per season.

As things stand, Martinez’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2026.

The former Racing Club striker signed his current deal during the fall of 2021.

However, Inter are already ready to start thinking well into the future. Martinez is a player who the club see as part of the foundation of the team for many seasons to come.

The Argentine’s performances over the past couple of seasons have only grown in quality. Therefore, the Nerazzurri are prepared to tie down his future with a new long-term deal.

Moreover, it is not as though there is not interest in taking Martinez away from Inter. Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all targeted the Nerazzurri striker in the recent past.

Given that Martinez will also captain Inter next season, however, his importance to the club is greater than ever

Therefore, it seems very likely that the Nerazzurri will aim to extend his deal. This would both keep the Argentine content at the club to ward off interest, and reflect his status within the team.

Inter Milan Make Initial Contract Extension Offer To Lautaro Martinez’s Agent

According to Il Giornale, Inter have now held their first real talks with Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano.

Whilst there is no rush to put pen to paper on a new deal, perhaps now with the transfer window still underway, all parties want to work out a deal in due time.

Il Giornale report that the Nerazzurri have put a five-year deal until the end of June 2028 on the table.

This would see the striker’s wages go up from €6.5 million net per season to around €7.5 million net per season.

Now, Inter will await the response from Martinez and his representatives.
