Inter Milan derby-winning hero Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the Nerazzurri showed that they weren’t too affected by the international break with their emphatic win over AC Milan.

Speaking to InterTV after the 5-1 thrashing of their city rivals, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old reacted to the result.

Inter not only kept their perfect start to the season going against Milan this evening

The Nerazzurri certainly didn’t look like a team who were showing any signs of fatigue.

Rather, Simone Inzaghi’s side looked hungry and clinical. They never lost their focus, and punished the Rossoneri when their city rivals lost theirs.

This came despite the fact that Inter had had just a couple of days as a full squad to prepare for this evening’s match.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri both had to deal with some jet lag and late-returning players in the buildup.

But if any of that was evident, it was not in the match that Inter played.

Mkhitaryan: Inter Milan Showed Vs AC Milan They Weren’t Affected By International Break

Mkhitaryan, for his part, feels that Inter showed just how fit and in form they were, with the international break not playing a role.

“Immediately after the break, we knew that we’d be playing a hugely important match,” the 34-year-old said.

“We started the match off very seriously, and we showed that we were not affected by the international break. We kept going exactly the same way we started the season off.”

The Armenian scored two of the Nerazzurri’s goals in the 5-1 win. He certainly more than earned his place in the starting eleven with his performance.

He said afterwards that “I try to learn every day, work well, and do my best.”

“At my age it’s not easy to always be at that level, but I try to give my contribution to the team,” Mkhitaryan added.

He noted that “In the first half we scored two goals, but they also caused some problems for us.”

“In the second half we understood that we couldn’t allow mistakes like on their goal,” he added.

“But after that we understood that we needed to push up and play our game. Then, we scored the third, the fourth, and fifth goals.”
