InterSpac President Carlo Cotrelli has revealed that his initiative has faced rejection from Inter Milan owners Suning on four occasions.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the InterSpac President updated on the current situation with his project to introduce fan shareholding to the Nerazzurri.

Cotarelli heads up the InterSpac initiative.

The project’s aim is to allow Nerazzurri fans to buy share in the club. This is similar to the model in the Bundesliga, where regulations in fact dictate that the majority of shares in clubs must be owned by fans.

InterSpac’s objective is not necessarily to control a majority of shares in Inter.

However, Cotarelli has made it clear that he believes that fan shareholders can make a significant investment in the club.

However, for this to happen, there would need to be cooperation from the current Inter owners.

And according to Cotarelli, Nerazzurri owners Suning have rejected InterSpac not just once but several times.

Cotarelli: Inter Owners Suning Have Rejected InterSpac Four Times

“For the moment, the current ownership of Inter doesn’t seem interested in a collaboration with fan shareholders,” Cotarelli said.

“So what could happen is either they change their mind, or the ownership changes,” he continued.

“Let’s say that it depends on the financial situation, not so much on the club, but of things upstream from it.”

As for whether Suning have already rejected InterSpac, Cotarelli said “Yes. We’ve gotten four negative responses.”

“The owners have their own ideas, which is of course completely legitimate,” he continued.

Cotarelli explained that “It’s about replacing a liability with a shareholder structure in Inter’s balance sheet.”

“In practice, the shareholders’ money would arrive, and with that the debt would be reduced.”

“The advantage of reducing debt would lie precisely in reducing interest,” he added.
