Inter Milan ultras group the Curva Nord are preparing to distribute 50,000 whistles to use against striker Romelu Lukaku in the team’s Serie A clash against Roma at the San Siro later this month.

The group released a statement confirming their intentions for the match against the Giallorossi, via FCInterNews.

It would be hard to overstate the degree of ill feeling that emerged between Inter and Lukaku during the summer transfer window.

In terms of the club, there was a sense of anger and confusion at the Belgian’s antics.

Inter had by all indications been prepared to pay a significant transfer fee to bring him back from Chelsea. That was, of course, before the club learned of the extent of the 30-year-old’s flirtations with Juventus.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri squad was also left baffled by Lukaku’s behaviour.

In the decisive days when Inter pulled the plug on signing the striker, he reportedly would not answer messages from his teammates.

And in terms of the fans, the feeling is clear.

The Curva Nord have already released a statement branding Lukaku a “villainous traitor.”

Curva Nord To Distribute Whistles To Use On Romelu Luykaku In Roma Clash

After Lukaku’s relationship with Inter soured, there was a lot of uncertainty as to which club the Belgian would end up at.

In the end it was Roma who snapped the striker up.

The Giallorossi completed the signing of Lukaku in the last couple days of the summer transfer window.

So far, Lukaku has gotten off to a fairly strong start to life in the Italian capital.

The Belgian scored the opening goal in Roma’s win over Frosinone on Sunday. This was his fourth goal for the club in six appearance.

And at the end of this month, Lukaku will come face to face with his former club Inter.

It will be a match with a lot of significance for the player. And for fans of his former team.

There was never much doubt about Lukaku receiving a negative reception from the fans in the stadium when he is on the pitch, assuming that he does in indeed play.

And the Nord have announced plans to really make the fan anger audible.

They state that they will be distributing 50,000 whistles to fans around the San Siro.

The intention is that, every time that Lukaku gets a touch on the ball, the sound of not just fans whistling with their mouths but actually blowing whistles will accompany it.

The Nord aim to make sure that the Belgian gets as negative reception from the crowd as is possible.
