Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi considers his brace for Italy against Ukraine at the San Siro to be a special moment in his career.

Speaking to Radio Italia SoloMusicaItaliana, via FCInterNews, the 24-year-old opened up on his Azzurri career so far.

The past couple of years have been whirlwind ones for Frattesi.

The Italian experienced his first season in Serie A during the 2021-22 campaign, with Sassuolo.

It was an impressive breakout campaign from Frattesi, and then last season only saw him improve.

Frattesi’s form for the Neroverdi led to increasing frequency of call-ups to the Italian national team. He has become a regular in the team under both Roberto Mancini and Luciano Spalletti.

And Frattesi’s performances for Sassuolo also led to interest from some of Serie A’s biggest clubs.

The 24-year-old’s displays for the national team certainly didn’t hurt in this regard.

In the end it was Inter who won the race to sign Frattesi this summer. The Nerazzurri signed the midfielder ahead of the likes of Juventus, Roma, and AC Milan.

Davide Frattesi Names Italy Brace As Career Highlight So Far

At the age of 24, Frattesi has a long career ahead of him in which to make special moments.

He has already had quite a few, though.

One was the midfielder’s goal in the Milan derby for Inter. Frattesi came off the bench and scored the fifth goal in stoppage time to round of a 5-1 rout of the Nerazzurri’s city rivals AC Milan.

But for Frattesi, the most special moments so far have come in an Italy shirt.

Of his most exciting moment, the 24-year-old named “My brace at San Siro, certainly.”

“My first match for Italy was the one with the most tension. But the most exhilarating moment was the brace I scored at the San Siro.”

And Frattesi also noted a particular influence in the Italy setup.

“We certainly have a great role model here, Gigi Buffon.”

“He’s a huge personality who certainly gives us a big hand,” he said of the iconic former Juventus and Italy captain.
