Napoli Sporting Director Mauro Meluso has poured cold water on transfer rumours linking Piotr Zielinski with Inter Milan, Juventus, and Liverpool.

The Partenopei spoke about the Polish midfielder’s future whilst talking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews.

Zielinski is a player who’s been at the centre of some recent transfer rumours.

The driving factor in recent reports about the 29-year-old’s future is his contract situation with Napoli.

At the moment, Zielinski’s deal with the Italian champions runs out at the end of next June.

Therefore, if the Pole does not sign an extension, he could leave on a free transfer next summer.

And naturally, the prospect of signing a player of Zielinski’s quality without a transfer fee has attracted a fair bit of attention.

Reportedly, Inter see the Napoli midfielder as a target. The Nerazzurri are always on the hunt for free transfer oppportunity.

Moreover, Zielinski could be a replacement if Henrikh Mkhitaryan leaves in the summer.

Meanwhile, Juventus are also reportedly targeting Zielinski.

Bans for Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba mean that the Bianconeri are aiming to reinforce their midfield.

And then Premier League duo Liverpool and West Ham United are also reportedly keeping tabs on Zielinski’s situation in view of a potential summer transfer.

However, there are questions about whether or not Zielinski will want to leave Napoli.

The Pole has been with the Partenopei for the better part of a decade. He has made over 300 appearances for the club, becoming a fixture in the starting eleven.

Zielinski reportedly turned down a chance for a big money move to the Saudi Pro League during the summer transfer window.

And according to Napoli Sporting Director Meluso, “He wants to stay here. He’s demonstrated that.”

“We’re working to make it happen,” he added.

“I’m confident.”
