Forward Alexis Sanchez is likely to start for Inter Milan in Wednesday’s Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper also anticipate that Carlos Augusto, Davide Frattesi, and Alessandro Bastoni could start the group stage clash.

Inter kept their momentum going in Serie A yesterday with a win over Atalanta. But they’ll already be turning their attention to the next match.

In midweek, the Nerazzurri travel to Austria for their second of two Champions League group stage matches against Salzburg.

Inter won the reverse fixture at the San Siro 2-1. This, along with an opening-day draw away to Real Sociedad and then a subsequent win over Benfica, put Inter in a strong position to reach the knockout rounds for the third season running.

But it was a tough match, given the Austrian champions’ high-energy and organized style of play. And Wednesday’s match will certainly be no different, particularly at Salzburg’s home stadium.

But the reward for three points would be securing group stage qualification with a couple matches to spare for Inter.

Alexis Sanchez Tipped To Start For Inter In Champions League Clash Vs Salzburg

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will certainly want to put out a strong team on Wednesday, given what’s at stake.

But at the same time, the Nerazzurri coach is also all but certain to rotate at least somewhat. This is virtually necessary given the mounting fixture list.

Midfielder Frattesi is one player who could come in. The 24-year-old has not been a regular starter this season, but has been feeling his way in.

Then, wingback Carlos Augusto is likely to replace Federico Dimarco, the Gazzetta reports.

And defender Bastoni didn’t feature either from the start or from the bench against Atalanta. The 24-year-old is virtually certain to start.

And lastly, the Gazzetta reports, Sanchez could reprise his starting role from the reverse fixture against Salzburg.

The Chilean former Barcelona and Arsenal veteran was in fact the scorer of the opening goal in the first of two matches against Salzburg.

And the Gazzetta anticipate that Sanchez will likely get the chance to repeat that performance in Salzburg.
