Legendary former Inter Milan striker Christian Vieri feels that current Nerazzurri man Marcus Thuram has big similarities to Samuel Eto’o.

Vieri spoke about the Frenchman on his Twitch channel, via FCInterNews, also praising the Nerazzurri directors for pulling off a free transfer signing to bring him in.

Thuram has only been an Inter player for a few months.

But already that 26-year-old has won more than his share of admirers.

Thuram has made more of an impact than all but the most optimistic predictions would have had it.

Already, the former Borussia Monchengladbach is on five goals for the season.

Moreover, Thuram has made a habit of popping up with very important goals. His winners against Benfica and Roma attest to that.

And beyond the goals, there is the matter of Thuram’s style of play.

The French international has looked like a very complete striker in an Inter shirt.

And for Vieri, there is a parallel with a certain player who had already done exceptionally well for the Nerazzurri, as well as for Barcelona.

Vieri Compares Marcus Thuram To Samuel Eto’o

Vieri said that “I knew Thuram was good, but I had heard that he didn’t score many goals.”

“I went to see him live, because you can’t see anything on television.”

“You see him live,” the former striker said. “He plays with his teammates. He’s good technically. He plays one-twos and scores goals.”

“The clubs directors deserve great credit for pulling off the signing,” Vieri said.

As far as a comparison to Eto’o, Vieri said that “I don’t always like comparisons, everyone has their own characteristics. But he’s at that level.”

“He plays for Lautaro. It was the same way with Lukaku as well.”

“When the two players up front look for each other, they thrive,” he noted.

“There’s no envy, goals are always scored.”

“Of course, if they had kept Lukaku too, they could have done some spectacular things.”
