Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram talks about his beginnings all the way to becoming an international star.

The Frenchman joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer last summer. He instantly cemented himself as a regular starter.

The 26-year-old has thus far contributed with five goals and seven assists from 15 appearances across all competitions.

In an interview with DAZN in collaboration with Inter TV (via FcInterNews), Thuram discussed several topics, starting with his childhood.

“I started playing when I was two or three, as soon as I started walking.

“I played at home, then I joined a club when I was eight or nine. I started late. First I did swimming and basketball but they weren’t for me, I only wanted football.”

The former Borussia Monchengladbach man is the son of legendary France defender Lilian Thuram. But he insists that his surname was never a problem.

“Never. For me, it was all normal. I was born and raised like this and it’s never been a problem.”

“If I didn’t play football, I could have been an actor maybe. I did a bit of acting at school and I must say I liked it.”

Inter Milan Striker Marcus Thuram Idolized Brazil Legend Ronaldo As A Child

The France international explains how he started his career as a winger but gradually became a striker.

“I began as a winger. Then the coaches and my father told me that it was better to play as a striker. I must say it worked.”

Thuram grew up idolizing former Inter Milan and Brazil superstar Ronaldo. He revealed how his mother tricked him into giving up his blanket using his passion for Il Fenomeno.

“I met Ronaldo at some events with my father. When I was little, I had a blanket that I carried everywhere.

“My mother didn’t want me to take it to school. She told me we had to give it to Ronaldo and so I left it.”

The Nerazzurri striker spoke about the hardships he faced during his career.

“When I got injured, I had to come to Inter in 2021. It was tough, but luckily my father and my brother were here to help me.

“I looked for strength within myself and for my love for football, you have to become stronger for the team.”

“My father taught me to never give up”,

“I have two celebrations. The first remained with me because I did it against Real Madrid. The second was something I invented with my brother whom I adore.

Thuram also spoke about his attributes on and off the pitch.

“I’m always late. But one advantage I have is that I laugh a lot. I’m fast, physical, and powerful. I forgot to mention technical…

“If you get along well with everyone in the locker room, you can do even better on the pitch.”
