Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is enjoying his team’s position on top of the table. He also had some interesting remarks regarding the club’s domestic competitors.

The Nerazzurri are currently one point ahead of Juventus in the Serie A standings while also having a match in hand.

Simone Inzaghi’s men can open a four-point gap by beating Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.

The Beneamata also managed to advance to the Champions League Round of 16 with two matches to spare, albeit they finished second in the group behind Real Sociedad.

Therefore, Ausilio says the club is on the right track, achieving all objectives thus far. Nevertheless, he insists that what matters the most is remaining ahead by June.

“We are in line with the objectives we set at the start of the campaign,” said the sporting director while attending the De Agazza Award ceremony via FcInterNews.

“When the season starts, you try to do everything possible to do well and get to the top.

“Qualifying for the Champions League round of 16 with two rounds to spare is a source of great satisfaction. The same goes for being on top of the Serie A table.”

“We know that December is not a definitive deadline, what matters is where we will be in June and we want to be ahead.”

Inter Milan Sporting Director Piero Ausilio Claims Juventus, Napoli & AC Milan Are Hiding Behind Lower Objectives

Ausilio takes the opportunity to aim a dig at Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan, claiming they change their objectives depending on their results.

“We have the same objectives as other teams who say they are gunning for something else.

“Let’s think of a fierce Juve, the same for Milan or Napoli. At the beginning of the season, they all start by aiming to win the Scudetto. Then, when they fail to achieve positive results, they hide behind lower objectives.

“But I’m not hiding. Inter will do everything to get the most out of every competition, Super Cup and Coppa Italia included. Then we’ll see at the end of the year what we’ve achieved.”
