Inter Milan are optimistic that midfielder Davide Frattesi will break into the team and play more of a role in 2024.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Frattesi has not exactly been a regular starter for Inter since his €33 million move last summer.

In fact, the 24-year-old has made just one start in Serie A all season to date. He has played a total of 331 minutes when factoring in all substitute appearances.

This is not exactly in line with the expectations that were attached to Frattesi when he joined.

The young midfielder had shone in his two previous seasons in Serie A with Sassuolo.

Moreover, Frattesi had also become a regular starter for the Italian national team.

Under both Roberto Mancini and Luciano Spalletti, the 24-year-old has certainly had a prominent role for the Azzurri.

But at Inter, that hasn’t yet been the case.

Inter Have Faith That Davide Frattesi Will Break Into Team In 2024

According to the Gazzetta, however, there is little worry about Frattesi’s situation within Inter.

On the contrary, the club feel that the Italian international’s progress is right on track.

Frattesi has had no need to come in and become a key starter right away. The outstanding performances of Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Hakan Calhanoglu have made sure of that.

Therefore, without too much pressure, Frattesi has had the opportunity to settle in.

And in training, the improvements in the 24-year-old have been noticeable, reports Sky.

Therefore, Inter believe that over the second half of the campaign, Frattesi can really come to the fore.

That does not, of course, mean that the Italian will suddenly displace any of the regular starting trio in midfield.

But with so many matches on the way, Frattesi can give a big boost in terms of depth and energy.

Moreover, with only seven goals coming from midfield in open play so far this season, Inter believe that the 24-year-old’s eye for goal can be a big “added value” later on in the season.,
