Inter Milan are interested in signing young Boca Juniors midfielder Cristian Medina.
Argentine news outlet El Crack Deportivo, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri could even trigger the 21-year-old’s release clause.
Inter Assistant Sporting Director Dario Baccin was recently in South America on a scouting mission.
Baccin is typically the man who Inter rely on to monitor talent in South American leagues as part of their transfer strategy.
Subsequently, Inter have enjoyed plenty of success bringing in players from across the Atlantic ocean. This has been the case both historically and in recent years.
Players such as the Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez is almost a perfect success story in this respect.
And therefore, whilst it would be going too far to say that Baccin is looking for the “next Lautaro” he is keeping an active eye out.
Inter Keen On Boca Juniors Midfielder Cristian Medina
Baccin watched the Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and Fluminense in November. That match saw the Brazilian team win 2-1 in extra time.
A number of players are reportedly on Inter’s and Baccin’s radar. Among these are defender Nicolas Valentini and midfielder Valentin Barco.
Both of that young duo play for Argentine giants Boca.
Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly want Barco. And Lazio are keen to bring Valentini to Serie A.
But there’s a third player who the Nerazzurri also took note of.
Young midfielder Medina has also emerged as a regular starter for Boca over the past couple of seasons.
And given Inter’s penchant for signing young Argentine talent, it is perhaps unsurprising that the 21-year-old would come onto their radar.
Medina has a release clause in his contract with Boca, according to El Crack Deportivo.
And Inter are not just aware of this – they are considering paying the clause to sign the midfielder.
