Inter Milan plan to sell wingback Denzel Dumfries during the summer transfer window unless he extends his contract.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that it is getting likelier and likelier that the Dutchman will depart before the start of next season.

Dumfries is currently under contract with Inter until the end of June 2025.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri want to either extend the 27-year-old’s contract before the end of the season, or else plan to sell him in the summer.

Inter would have absolutely no intention of seeing Dumfries leave on a free transfer in eighteen months’ time.

As such, Inter will cash in when they have the chance.

That does not mean that there is no chance of Inter and Dumfries agreeing a contract extension.

The talks have not finished. But they have stalled somewhat in recent weeks.

The reason why is the sizable gap between Inter’s offer and the demands of Dumfries and his representatives.

The Nerazzurri have put a new deal worth around €4 million net per season on the table. This could rise slightly season on season.

Dumfries and his representatives want €5 million net per season.

Moreover, the expiration of the Growth Decree in Italian football would make it more difficult for Inter to get closer to Dumfries’s demands.

Inter To Sell Denzel Dumfries If He Doesn’t Extend Contract

With all of this being said, Inter are definitely considering selling Dumfries in the summer.

The arrival of Tajon Buchanan as an option on the right flank would also appear to see the club prepare for the Dutchman’s exit.

Therefore, the Gazzetta suggests, all roads lead to a summer departure for Dumfries.

The 27-year-old is not likely to leave in the January transfer. He is happy at Inter, and remains an important part of the squad.

The Nerazzurri would hardly want to sell Dumfries right now. In this case, they would have to think about how to replace him.

But as far as the summer, that appears to be the trend.

Inter will not go all out to tie Dumfries down to a new deal based on his recent performances.
