Defender Alessandro Bastoni is a doubt to start for Inter Milan in tomorrow evening’s Supercoppa Italiana final against Napoli.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb. The outlet reports that the 24-year-old is feeling a bit of muscular fatigue and will be evaluated tomorrow.

Inter have had very little in the way of rest time between the semfinal and final of the Supercoppa.

The Nerazzurri only played against Lazio on Friday.

And already the team will be in action tomorrow evening.

That’s just a couple days to rest and train between the two matches. And considering the high tempo that the match against Lazio was played at, it certainly took a toll on the players.

Therefore, in the last couple training sessions, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has been closely observing the fitness of his players.

Alessandro Bastoni A Fitness Doubt For Inter In Supercoppa Final Vs Napoli

According to TMW, one of the main doubts concerns the availability of Bastoni.

The Italian international had started in the semifinal against the Biancoelesti.

Bastoni did come off as a substitute during the second half of that match, however.

It was Stefan de Vrij who replaced the 24-year-old former Parma and Atalanta man.

Therefore, Francesco Acerbi shifted out to Bastoni’s usual position on the left of the defense. Then Dutch international de Vrij played in the centre of the back three.

And according to TMW, there were still one or two signs of muscular fatigue from Bastoni in today’s training session as well.

Therefore, it is not certain that the 24-year-old will quite be in condition to start tomorrow.

Bastoni’s availability will more or less go down to the wire, TMW anticipate.

Inter coach Inzaghi will watch the defender in tomorrow’s training session. If Bastoni is back to his best physically, then he will likely start.
