Both Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez will be hungry to put in a statement performance against Fiorentina tomorrow.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight the two Nerazzurri strikers’ potential motivations in the Serie A clash at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The last time Inter and Fiorentina faced in Serie A, the Nerazzurri won by an emphatic 4-0 scoreline.

And two of Inter’s absolutely outstanding performers were Martinez and Thuram.

The former got on the scoresheet twice in the rout. And the latter scored his first ever Inter goal to break the deadlock.

That match was nothing short of a blowout.

But that doesn’t mean that Inter will be underestimating Fiorentina this time around, particularly away in Tuscany.

Inter would certainly appreciate it if both of their star strikers can pick up where they left off the last time that they came up against Fiorentina.

And the players themselves could also do with a big night at the Franchi.

For Thuram, it would mean putting a bit of profligate form in front of goal behind him.

The Frenchman had kicked off an outstanding run of form in terms of end product with his goal and assist against La Viola.

But in recent weeks, there have been a few big misses.

Thuram’s finishing is not necessarily the 26-year-old’s best attribute.

So he will be hoping that he can bag a goal to get back on track and go on a similar run of form as after the last meeting with Fiorentina.

And for Martinez, a big performance would mean taking some attention from off-the-pitch headlines.

Recent comments by the Argentine’s agent have made ripples as far as talk of Martinez’s contract extension.

So naturally, Martinez would like to put that focus back on his remarkable season on the pitch.
