Former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello feels that Inter Milan looked “uncoordinated” in the first half of their Serie A win over Lecce.

Capello spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, in an interview published in today’s print edition. He also noted that there was “no contest” after the Nerazzurri’s second goal.

Inter had just a one-goal lead at halftime of yesterday evening’s match.

It was hardly a safe advantage for the Nerazzurri. And moreover, the way that the first half had gone will certainly have given the team reason to worry.

Inter were never really able to gain control of proceedings prior to halftime.

This was the result of an aggressive, high-tempo approach from Lecce.

Therefore, it was a pivotal moment in the match when midfielder Davide Frattesi slotted in Inter’s second goal in the opening stage of the match.

That was the goal that gave Inter breathing room. And took the wind out of Lecce’s sails.

Two more Nerazzurri goals followed, and it ended up looking like a relatively easy day at the office for Simone Inzaghi’s team.

Capello: Inter “Uncoordinated” In First Half Of Serie A Win Vs Lecce

“It’s now becoming difficult to find words for this team,” Capello said of Inter.

“Even in an evening where Simone Inzaghi largely played a revamped team, with only DImarco, Mkhitaryan, and Lautaro present as far as regular starters, they made light work of Lecce.”

Capello continued that “To be honest, watching the first 45 minutes with a careful eye, Inter didn’t have their usual mechanisms.”

“Defense and midfield were uncoordinated with each other,” he continued.

“Lecce, for their part, tried to play an open match,” the coach noted.

“But in doing so, they exposed themselves to the ferocious counterattack of the first goal. capitalized on by Lautaro.”

“That was always in the air,” Capello said.

“And then after Frattesi scored the second goal, there was no contest anymore.”
